The Department of German and Dutch Studies at the University of Veliko Tarnovo was founded in 1973 (then the Department of German Philology). The Department is among the leading university units that train German philologists and translators in German and Dutch.
The staff consists of 7 full-time lecturers, 30% of whom are professors in the field. The department also employs two guest lecturers through the German and Austrian Academic Exchange Services.
International research projects ensure both the annual attendance of guest professors from foreign Germanic institutes and the participation of our faculty in study programmes abroad.
