A delegation from the Belgorod State National Research University led by rector, Prof. Oleg Nikolaevich Polluhin, was on an official visit at the University of Veliko Tarnovo. Part of the delegation were the dean of the Faculty of Law at the Belgorod University Prof. Evgeni Tonkov, Prof. Elena Safronova, a lecturer at the same faculty, as well as three students, vocal performers.
The two universities have a successful cooperation agreement that provides for the exchange of students and lecturers, participation in international events and joint projects. At present, four students from the Faculty of Law at the Belgorod University are studying at the University Veliko Tarnovo.
The guests had a working meeting with Prof. Hristo Bondzholov to discuss future cooperation, sign Erasmus+ papers and an agreement to establish a Centre for cross-border Legal Studies.
There was a round table in “Europe” hall which was dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule and the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution. The Belgorod University representatives and nearly 30 lecturers and doctoral students from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of History of the University of Veliko Tarnovo took part in the round table.
Rectors of both universities and deans of both Faculties of Law delivered opening speeches and reports. The students, part of the delegation, had a performance of popular Russian folk and romance songs at 15:30 at the Library and Information Centre of Building 5 of the University of Veliko Tarnovo.
