Prof. Hristo Bondzholov, PhD, Rector of the University of Veliko Tarnovo, unveiled the “Christmas in Serbia – customs and traditions” photo exhibition. The exhibition is a welcomed event, proof of good neighbourly relations with the Republic of Serbia. The Rector went on further to say that mutual agreement and help between the two countries is vital. The exhibition itself also serves to show support for the effort of the Bulgarian government to unite the West Balkans, one of the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency in the Council of the EU.
Miroslav Popov and Nikolay Fratev, the photographers behind the exhibition, also attended the unveiling. The project is by the non-governmental organisation “Black – Adriatic Sea” Association.
The “Christmas in Serbia – customs and traditions” is the first stage of the project aiming to popularise the cultural and ethnographic features of all countries in the region, alongside advertising the Balkans with their captivating and diverse customs and traditions.
Many students and lecturers of the University of Veliko Tarnovo showed their interest in the exhibition. The photographs themselves recreate customs, traditions and natural scenes of Christmas celebration in Serbia. The exhibition can be found in front of “Europe” hall until 16 March 2018.
