Days of the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis – through the union agreement of the Faculties for the Humanities of South-Eastern Europe
The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Nis celebrated its 46th anniversary on 9 November 2017. There was a ceremonial meeting and protocol signing for the formation of a union between the Philosophy, Philology and other faculties in the Humanities in the South-Eastern region of Europe.
Prof. Dr. Natalija Jovanovic, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Nis, proposed this union in order to improve partnerships and academic mobility, better educational programmes and research projects, to facilitate joint application for EU funds, and to increase student mobility. The initiative gained support from related faculties in the universities in Sofia, Skopje, Veliko Tarnovo, Timi?oara, Istocno Sarajevo, Mitrovica, Pristina and others.
The University of Veliko Tarnovo was represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Hristo Bondzholov, and the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages, Prof. Dr. Tsenka Ivanova. Guests and hosts had the opportunity to share experience on class organisation, accreditation and quality control procedures on working meetings about the contemporary challenges of higher education in the Humanities. One of the key proposals, which would outline the first steps in this extended partnership, were about sharing and synchronising the scholarly calendars of the partner faculties, as well as notifications for scholarly journals and annual issues included in citation and reference data bases. The seventh international conference “The Arts and contemporary university” was held on 10 November. The hosts highly estimated the stability of the long standing partnership between the universities in Nis and in Veliko Tarnovo.
