There was a festive assembly in celebration of the Day of the Bulgarian National Revival Leaders at the Ceremonial Hall of the University of Veliko Tarnovo. It began with a welcoming speech by Rector Prof. Dr. Hristo Bondzholov.
Prof. Bondzholov reminded the attendees that days like November 1 are important because they bring to mind a key objective - to treasure a collective Bulgarian spirit whether at home or abroad.
Acad. Anton Donchev, the 49th Doctor honoris causa of the University of Veliko Tarnovo, was awarded the D. Sc. h. c. insignia during the ceremony. The title was conferred on him by decision of the Academic council of 19 June 2017 for his contribution to the development of Bulgarian literature and cinema as well as for his universal guiding presence in Bulgarian society.
Time of Parting author, acad. Anton Donchev said in his speech that "there are two sides battling in each mind and every soul alas the human mind is but a narrow arena. Our National Leaders signed in their blood the Bulgarian decision for the Bulgarian path of good guided by the light of the Spirit."
