University of Murcia call for language assistants

1. Object

   With the purpose of collaborating in the practical teaching of a native language and helping readers improve their knowledge of the Spanish language, 18 scholarships for language assistants have been created, as follows:

   1. Assigned to the Faculty of Education:
      • 2 scholarships for French language readers.
      • 5 scholarships for English language readers.
   2. Assigned to the Faculty of Arts:
      • 4 scholarships for English language readers.
      • 3 scholarships for French language readers.
      • 1 scholarship for German language readers.
      • 1 scholarship for Italian language readers.
      • 1 scholarship for Classic Arabic and Moroccan readers.
   3. Assigned to Language Service of the University of Murcia:
      • 1 scholarship for English language readers.


2. Duration

   Scholarships will be granted for the duration of the 2018-2019 academic year (between October 1^st, 2018 and June 30^th, 2019).



3. University of Murcia commitments

   The University of Murcia offers to each assistant:

   1. A scholarship to cover main expenditures, with a total amount of 6,300 € (700 € per month).
   2. An assigned tutor to help and support the assistant.
   3. A maximum of 1,000€, just for academic training and linguistic improvement between these options: Spanish courses for foreigners, degree subjects for visiting students, official Master and Doctor degree programs.
   4. Considerate assistants as a student of international mobility, having a Student Card and full access to our services.


4. Scholar obligations
   1. 12 language and culture teaching hours per week (under the supervision of a lecturer)
   2. 2 tutoring hours per week.
   3. Regular catch-up meetings proposed by tutors.
   4. To collaborate with the department and the IRO personnel in some activities that may require a native speaker (previously authorized by the assistant´s tutor).
   5. To obtain correspondent visa.


5. Applicant main requirements
   1. To be a native speaker of the language required for the scholarship.
   2. To have a Bachelor's degree in Languages or Foreign Language Teaching.
   3. To not have a contractual relationship with the University of Murcia.
   4. To not have had a scholarship as a language assistant for more than 18 months.


6. Application deadline and procedure

   Applications and documents must reach the University of Murcia's "Registro General" office, the University of Murcia´s "Registro Auxiliar" office or any Spanish Consulate "Registro" office by July 4th, 2018.

   The applicant must provide the following documents:

   1. Photocopy of college/university degree.
   2. Personal academic certificate or photocopy of it.
   3. Academic and professional CV.
   4. Recommendation letters from professors, teachers, tutors or previous tutors.
   5. Photocopy of the certificate accrediting a previous period being language assistant, issued by the competent authority.
